In the midst of the turmoil and conflict that has plagued Yemen, one woman stands out as a symbol of hope and courage. Dalia, the only nurse in Al-Dabab village, Taiz Governorate, has dedicated her life to helping others in her community, despite the constant danger and challenges she faces.

I had the privilege of drawing and animating a short documentary (Here) by Al-Hurra channel that tells Dalia’s story. Through frame-by-frame animation, I brought to life the story of a remarkable woman who has overcome adversity with grace and determination.
The documentary explores Dalia’s experience of being the only nurse in her town, where she is responsible for the health and well-being of thousands of people. Dalia recounts how she lost her eye while protecting a child during a shooting and narrowly escaped with her life. Her bravery and resilience in the face of danger are genuinely inspiring.
As someone who loves animation and drawing, I was excited to work on this project and bring attention to Dalia’s story. Drawing and animation can be powerful tools for raising awareness and promoting empathy for those whose stories might otherwise go untold.
Through this short documentary, we hope to shed light on the struggles faced by healthcare workers in Yemen and the incredible resilience and courage of people like Dalia. We also hope to inspire others to support those affected by conflict and to work towards a more peaceful future for Yemen.
In summary, this short documentary tells the inspiring story of Dalia, a Yemeni nurse who has dedicated her life to helping others in her community, despite the constant danger and challenges she faces. Through animation and drawing, we hope to bring attention to her story and inspire others to support those affected by the conflict in Yemen.
